March 18, 2022 1:02 pmIf there is a power socket at the top then it is a Mac Pro and NOT a G5 so you need to look at Mac Pro kits specifically- they are not interchangeable.
All best.

August 25, 2022 2:35 pmHello
I’m glad to see that there is an active community that still appreciates the G5. I purchased mine in 2005 and used it up until 2013 running OS 10.5.8 when Apple (in it’s greed and disregard for their customer’s substantial investments in their products) decided to come out with new software which would no longer run on their expensive G5, forcing you to purchase a new computer. I have held onto mine but space requirements necessitate re-homing the G5.
Can you suggest a good way to sell mine? It’s in like new condition and everything works. (I took great care of all my electronics). You input would be much appreciated.

April 14, 2023 2:02 pmYes, just make an extra order and I will then refund one set of shipping costs. Alternatively email me and I can issue a PayPal invoice for the extra items.

June 24, 2023 9:15 pmI recently bought a Mac Pro ATX kit and a fan bracket. Will I receive another email with my tracking information?

June 26, 2023 7:08 amHi Christian,
Your order was received correctly – you will receive another email once the order is completed and sent.
Please note that the fan bracket does NOT fit the Mac Pro and only fits the G5. Are you sure you wish to order the fan bracket?
Please also ensure that you are ordering the correct ATX kit. The G5 sometimes is confused with the Mac Pro. An easy way to know which you have is that the G5 has just one opening at the front for an Optical Drive, but the Mac Pro has two.

August 5, 2023 5:57 pmHi,
I’ve got a G5 which I want to convert to ATX. Do your kits provide some sort of ground connection from the motherboard to the enclosure? (I’m guessing that the brass screws touch the aluminium, or are screwed into it?)
Kind regards
Adam

August 6, 2023 8:08 amPC motherboards connect to the main’s earth ground through the PSU. The PSU case is grounded and that also should be well connected physically ( and electrically via that physical mechanical connection) to the enclosure. So note here that in all cases the motherboard itself will have a ground connection to the mains connection via the PSU – So it is unnecessary to ground a motherboard to the metal PC case using standoffs.
If the power supply case is not connected to the G5 enclosure in a good mechanical fashion then best practice would be to separately connect an earth strap from one of the attachment screws of the power supply and link that to the G5 chassis.
As an additional point motherboards generally have at least one standoff attachment point that is connected to the grounding plane and through the mechanical attachment of the board to the standoff ( and via the standoff to the case when using one of our metal trays ) there is also ground connection.
