As of now all new G4 kits have a marvellous new IO plate included. This plate is laser cut from 1.2mm aluminium sheet, brushed and folded and then fitted with extra secure, extra long threaded inserts to hold your PCI-e cards securely.
Holes in the plate line up with existing rivet holes in the G4 range and give the neatest and easiest ever way of converting a G4 to micro ATX format.
Because these are SO fantastic and easy to use, they could spark an upsurge in interest in modding all G4 (and G3) powermacs as such plates do not need specialised metal skills to turn a neglected (and cheap) old Apple case into a fantastic new PC enclosure.
Here is a sample conversion to a Quicksilver model fitted with the new kits and resplendent in dark grey acrylic replacement panels.
Here you can see the kit fitted and read about the prices and options: Quicksilver kits Early G3/G4 kits
If you would just like to purchase the IO shield to use in your own conversions then this can be bought by itself for £12 or equivalent.
