Wow, the second batch of these kits have now all but gone (last couple boxed and ready to go – get your order in quick!). More are on their way though from the aluminium laser cutter I am using.
There are also a few items in development that I wanted to share here.
First, there is some demand for mATX versions that do not keep the original twin 92mm fan layout, but which have a single 120mm fan. So, I currently have a one off aluminium prototype in the works for this which should also work well with coolers such as the Corsair H80 and Antec Kuhler 620. Once that one is here with me I’ll be sorting a new I/O panel to pair with it.
Second, I thought I’d go one further and see if I can get two 120 fans in there. Because of my last experiences with this (see forum post here) I knew it was possible, but thought it would not lend itself to a diy kit. I am pleased though to say that it can be incorporated into a kit AND keep the original PCI slots etc. so that is going to be available from the hive in due course (with spacing to suit coolers such as the H100 as well as for simple 120mm dual fannery!). If you fancy being on the list for one of these when they start production please contact me now.
There are a few more things happening right now and big plans for more great products to make converting your G5s, G4s and (soon I hope) Mac Pro cases easier than ever.
And why not sign up to the forum section and show off some of your own work or ask detailed support questions.
Thank you for your support.
And finally, a few teaser pic.s:
Coming soon. This retains the original PCI slots and can be simply screwed into the perforated back panel of the G5, for an easy conversion every time…the perfect complement to our G5 motherboard tray.
This acrylic prototype shows that two fans on the back of a G5 WILL go without having to do major panelwork. In the final aluminium version there will be a custom power inlet, and like all laser hive conversions it will fit perfectly to the G5 mesh. It will also be able to take a 240 radiator for the ultimate in cooling solutions. Again, register your interest now for the first run of these backplates. Oh yes, one final thing, the grill design on these will not make it to production, but you will be able to choose from various possible grill designs as options.
